On the CAS National Public Science Day (May 15-16), visitors to XTBG were provided an opportunity to understand pattra-leaf culture and have some works on pattra leaf.

Under the theme of “pattra-leaf culture and biodiversity conservation”, the public education activities for the National Science and Technolgy Week unveiled. The activities aim to publicize the knowledge of pattra-leaf culture and increase awareness of protecting forest biodiversity.

On May 15, many visitors were very happy to get their names in Dai language written on pattra leaves, have their bleesings inscribed, all which were given to them as gifts for memory. They even got a chance to learn their names in Dai language and write themselves.

While enjoying pattra-leaf culture, visitors were also shown pictures on biodiversity conservation and how local people protect their forests. The idea of “holy forests” by Dai nationality was introduced to the visitors.
