A great way to enjoy bird watching is by going to festivals. Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) is to host its 5th Birding Festival during November 4-6 to get you to great birding spots in the garden at a great time of the year. All bird and nature lovers are welcomed to participate. It will be enjoyable and informative.

Like the past four birding festivals, it is aimed to promote bird watching, increase awareness of bird conservation, and promote citizen science.

A bird watching contest will be held, in addition to such activities as guided walks for bird-watching, booth exhibitions, photography workshops, and talks on bird related issues.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical garden (XTBG) is an ideal place to watch birds. Some rare or beautiful birds like the crimson sunbird (Aethopyga siparaja), the Sri Lanka green pigeon (Treron pompadora), and the streaked spiderhunter (Arachnothera magna) are star birds for some bird watching lovers.

This year, the oriental bay owl (Phodilus badius) also reappears in the garden. It may give surprise to the bird lovers.
