The Third Luosuo River Science Education Forum opened at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on July 10. With the theme of “Science education in the context of educational excursions”, the forum brought together over 120 representatives nationwide.

Prof. Zhou Dejin, director general of the Bureau of Science Communication of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), delivered an opening speech. He said that Luosuo River Science Education Forum is a platform for educators to discuss new trend, technology, resources, and methods in education.

Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG and chairman of Chinese Union of Botanic Gardens (CUBG), said that science education is not only to improve science literacy of the Chinese nationalities, but also to encourage children to choose scientific research as their career.

Prof. Guo Chuanjie is one of the keynote speakers. He proposed to make out standard to assess educational excursions.

Dr. Chen Wenli form Singapore Nanyang Technological University is another keynote speaker. She talked about “seamless science learning empowered by mobile technologies: perspectives from Singapore”.

In the following two days, four plenary speeches and 10 symposium presentations will provide platform to discuss science education in the context of educational excursions.
