Xishuangbanna rainforest and ethno-culture on show at Xiamen Botanical Garden

An exhibition named “Approach mysterious tropical rainforest, experience ecological Xishuangbanna” is on show at Xiamen Botanical Garden from Spetember 22 to October 31. 

The exhibition displays 70 seeds and fruits, 3 plant products, 120 folk custom products, 1000 photos of rainforest eco-culture and folk customs in Xishuangbanna. The exhibition hall is laid out by ecological design, making out an atmosphere and landscape of tropical rainforest. 

The exhibition is jointly organized by Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and Xiamen Botanical Garden. At the opening ceremony, Prof. Hu Huabin, deputy director of XTBG, called on the audience to make efforts to protect tropical rainforest.  

“The large areas of tropical forest have been cleared and plant resources are limited. By this exhibition, we hope the general public may have an understanding on Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest and contribute to rainforest protection and ecological civilization”, said Prof. Hu. 

On the opening day, XTBG staff of science communication made lectures to students. The lectures were concerned Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest, birds in XTBG, protection of peacocks, and eye-catching species when touring XTBG in the evening, etc. 

Tour guides from XTBG and Xiamen Botanical garden will show the audience around the exhibition and communicate rainforest and ethno-culture of Xishuangbanna from September 22 to October 31.
