A leaf flower (Bougainvillea)exhibition is ongoing at the Flower Garden to greet the 65th anniversary of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG).
The theme of this flower show is "Floral Art & Bamboo Art", which uses leaf flowers and Dai bamboo weaving to create the shape of a peacock, constituting the main landscape "Peacock Flower Sea" of this flower show. In addition, bird nests, elephant-foot drums and leaf flower bracts are woven with bamboo, showing the superb "bamboo art" of the Dai people, while the potted seedlings of Bougainvillea are matched to form three groups of landscape sets: "Returning Home", "Joy of Harvest" and "Blooming".
The flower show exhibits more than 80 varieties of Bougainvillea. With kinds of Bougainvillea in full bloom, walking among them is like being in a fairyland, which makes people unforgettable.
According to researchers, leaf flower (Bougainvillea) symbolizes the spirit of perseverance and tenacious struggle.
“ XTBG people of generations are just like the Bougainvillea. They have been adhering to their original aspiration and not daunted by harsh environment, taking root in this island and turning the wilderness into an international scientific island and tropical plants camp. We wish that the future of XTBG will be as vigorous and prosperous as Bougainvillea,” said a researcher of XTBG.
