An office co-established by the CAS Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB) and Botanical Garden Edinburgh officially opened on 7 April in the Southwest China's Germplasm Bank for Wildlife in Kunming.

On the basis of the Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden, which is a joint Sino-UK initiative to set up a platform for the biodiversity studies and conservation in southwest China, the office is aimed at further developing the partnership between KIB and Botanical Garden Edinburgh.
