Harald Schneider participates in First World Science and Technology Development Forum

On the afternoon of October 16, the First World Science and Technology Development Forum was opened in Beijing. Themed "Science ·Technology · Development," the forum was attended by experts, academicians, Nobel laureates, fellows of important science organizations, university presidents and entrepreneurs from both home and abroad. Famous scientists from all over the world gathered in Beijing and discussed the importance of global science and technology communication and governance. 

Over 400 famous Chinese and foreign scientists, educators and entrepreneurs were invited to three sub-forums to share their insights on technological revolution and industrial transformation, the integration of science and technology with education and culture, and the growth of young scientists and small and medium-sized enterprises respectively.  

Prof. Harald Schneider of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was invited to make a presentation at the sub-forum of science & technology and education &culture. 

Sponsored by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the 1st World Science and Technology Development Forum and World Conference on Science Literacy were held from October 16-17. It studied how to build new channels for people-to-people diplomacy in the field of science and technology, how to smooth channels for international science and technology exchanges and how to build high-level platforms for international science and technology exchanges and cooperation in China. 

Prof. Harald Schneider is currently principal investigator Macroevolution Group of XTBG. He studies question concerning the macro- and microevolution of land plants integrating phylogenetis and population genetics morphological and molecular evidence, extant and extinct taxa, biogeographic and ecological patterns, divergence time estimates. He currently focuses on studies of "Evolutionary Geobiology of Land Plants" and "Integrative Plant Taxonomy". He has ever published his research results in such journals as Nature, Nature Communications, PNAS, Trends in Ecology and Evolution. etc
