Prof. Kesselmeier of Max Planck Institute visits XTBG

  During October 11-17, Prof. Dr. Juergen Kesselmeier, Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Germany, visited XTBG on invitation. Collaborative studies have been carried out between him and the XTBG research group of plant physiological ecology in the past year.

    During his visit, Dr. J. Kesselmeier delivered two lectures titled  " Biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOC): exchange between vegetation and the atmosphere" , "Biological control of the exchange of the atmospheric carbonyl sulfide (COS) between biosphere and the atmosphere". Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, had a discussion with him on further cooperation. Cooperation intents for long-term collaboration, project application and graduate education have been reached.

   Prof.  J. Kesselmeier spoke highly of XTBG rich plant collections, convenient fieldwork conditions and gardening.

     Prof. J. Kesselmeier is editor-in-chief of Biogeosciences and member of the editorial board of Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics.  He has published 74 peer-reviewed papers on scientific journals. His field of interest includes exchange of climatic relevant trace gases between biosphere and the atmosphere.
