Dr. Stuart Davies, director of the Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS) of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, paid a visit to XTBG during July 22 and 25. Dr. Cao Min, deputy director of XTBG, accompanied him a field tour to the “Whole-Forest Observation Plot” co-established by XTBG and Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve.

Dr. Stuart Davies said that the forest dynamics monitoring plot is well situated and the forest is typical of Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest. He hopes XTBG to further the development of the plot and try to join in the research network of the CTFS.

Dr. Cao Min and Dr. Stuart Davies discussed the potentiality of cooperation and co-sponsoring training courses of field biology at XTBG. Both sides are willing to further cooperate with each other.

Dr. Stuart Davies is a tropical ecologist and taxonomist specializing in the plants and ecosystems of Southeast Asia.
