Delegation of University of Ruhuna visits XTBG

Prof.Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka, headed up a 5-person delegation to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on April 22-23. The two sides expressed their expressions for more cooperation and exchanges in biodiversity conservation in the future. 

Prof. Quan Ruichang, deputy director of XTBG and executive director of Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI), warmly welcomed the guests and discussed cooperation potentials with them. 

Prof. Ahimsa Campos-Arceiz of XTBG introduced the work of SEABRI.  Prof.Sujeewa Amarasena gave a general introduction to his university and the cooperation with the China-Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education & Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).  

More than 20 people including relevant researchers and representatives of Sri Lankan students studying in XTBG participated in the meeting. The participants from the two sides discussed possible cooperation on academic exchanges, talent training, biodiversity surveys and conservation. 

  

During the visit, Sujeewa Amarasena and his companions also had an understanding on the work of species conservation, garden construction, and environmental education of XTBG.
