During 4-6 October, the Coordinating Meeting on GMS Biodiversity & Socio-economic Assessment Method was held in Bangkok, Thailand. At the joint invitation of the ADB GMS Environment Operations Center and National Environment Agency of the Netherlands, Prof. Hu Huabin participated in and made a report at the meeting.

 

   The meeting was attended by 73 representatives from the countries sharing the Mekong River, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Conservation International, BirdLife International, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the partnership agencies of the Biodiversity Conservation Corridor Initiative (BCI), and relevant institutions.

 

   The participants had discussions and exchanges on the biodiversity and social economic assessment which is to be carried out in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) by the ADB. Primary framework for the assessment has been formed at the meeting.

 

    Prof. Hu Huabin also discussed details on the construction of Xishuangbanna Biodiversity Conservation Corridor with Dr. Hasan Moinuddin who’s in charge of the BCI.
