The Animal Behavior and Environmental Change Research Group (ABCE) was established in June 2012 within the Centre for Integrative Conservation, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The group is led by Prof. Rui-Chang Quan. The research interests of ABCE focus on the highly biodiverse regions of tropical Southwest China and Southeast Asia, with study topics encompassing: 1) biodiversity and animal community ecology; and 2) environmental change and conservation. 

  

1. Seeking position: 1 position, Assistant/Associate Professor. 

2. Working location: Menglun Town, Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, P. R. China 

3. Position requirements and responsibility 

a) ABCE is seeking to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor specializing in biodiversity and conservation science, particularly with background of community ecology, landscape and/or animal ecology, conservation planning, and spatial modeling. 

b) Applicant is expected to have a PhD degree and publications in the leading scientific journal in related fields (3 publications as first author for Assistant Professor position, and 5~7 publications as first author for Associate Professor position). 

c) According to XTBG’s regulation, applicant for Associate Professor is expected to younger than 40-year old. Applicant for Assistant Professor is expected to younger than 35-year old 

d) The successful candidate will be expected to work in accordance with ABCE’s vision, and contribute to the management and development of research group, to graduate student supervision, and to seek external funding as required by the research goals. 

4. We offer: 

a) A fixed term appointment for 4 years, offered at associate or assistant professorial level (depending on experience and publication track-record). For Associate Professor, the annual salary of foreign personnel is 300,000-400,000 RMB (before tax); For Assistant Professor, the annual salary of foreign personnel is 200,000-300,000 RMB (before tax). 

b) Suitable lab resources including a basic laboratory within the research group as well as access to start-of-the-art analysis facilities within XTBG. 

c) Access to the network of research sites across Southwest China and Southeast Asia. 

d)  An exceptional living environment for studying ecology and biodiversity, friendly and enthusiastic staff and students conversant in English.
