Prof. Lin Wenlan, Head of Science & Technology Department of Yunnan Province,visits XTBG

On December 8, Prof. Lin Wenlan, head of Science& Technology Department of Yunnan province, and Dr. Huang Xingqi, head of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Science (AAS), came to visit XTBG in the company of relevant leaders of Xishuangbanna government like its vice sheriff Liu Deqiang, etc.

 

   Mr. Li Hongwei, deputy director of XTBG, made a report to the visiting leaders. Li’s presentation covered the achievements of scientific research, species preservation, public science education and exploitation of economic plants made in the past five years and development prospect of the Garden. Afterwards Prof. Lin Wenlan expressed his expectations on XTBG’s development. According to Lin, XTBG should make clear orientation, pay attention to original innovation and knowledge dissemination; enhance mechanism construction; contribute more to the local government; attach importance to public science education and training; sign comprehensive cooperation agreement on science & technology with Xishuangbanna government, etc. The Science and Technology Department of Yunnan province may give continued support to XTBG for scientific research.

 

   After the meeting, the visiting leaders looked around the scientific facilities like the digital botanical garden, living plant collections, and the Tropical Rainforest Ethnic Culture Museum
