On August 20, Mr. Bai Chengliang, head of Yunnan Provincial Department of Forestry, paid a visit to XTBG. His purpose was to see about the research progress on energy plants, especially on Jatropha curcas.

He made a field trip on the cultivation base of Jatropha curcas. He asked about the seed variety cultivation, provenances, production, transplantation density, pruning and other related research progress. Having a good understanding on XTBG’s research progress, Mr. Bai Chengliang said that the project of Jatropha curcas at XTBG will be treated as one of the three key pilot projects by the provincial Department of Forestry.

He was also shown around the teak and dipterocarp forests and main scenic spots of the Garden.

Mr. Lang Nanjun, director of Yunnan Academy of Forestry, and other leaders of relevant departments of forestry at different levels accompanied the tour.
