On August 21, Mr. Li Jiheng, the newly appointed deputy secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, made an investigating and studying visit to XTBG.

He was shown around the main scenic spots within the Garden. Having a general understanding on the history, status quo, and blueprint of the Garden, the deputy secretary appreciated the spirit of the founders of XTBG, and was especially moved by the deeds and ethics of Prof. Cai Xitao. He also expressed gratitude to XTBG for its valuable contributions to the local development. He said that “abundant in biological resources, Yunnan has great development potentials”.

 Many officials at various levels, including Xishuangbanna Magistrate Dao Linyin and some other senior officials of the provincial and prefectural governments, accompanied the tour.

 As his first investigating and studying tour to Xishuangabnna, Mr. Li Jiheng and his companions furthered their trip to villages of Dai ethnic group, frontier and port districts.
