Kua Chai-Shian from the Ecological Evolution Lab of XTBG participated in the 2nd Joint Genome Institute User Meeting at Walnut Creek, California, U.S.A from March 27th-30th. She co-presented 2 posters entitled "Characterizing SHYP Probe Sequences in Known Genomes" and "Promoting Genomic in Asian Tropical Botany", with Charles Cannon from Texas Tech University.
The Joint Genome Institute (JGI) of the United States was created in 1997 to unite the expertise and resources in genome mapping, DNA sequencing, technology development, and information sciences pioneered at the U.S. DOE (Department Of Energy) genome centers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory(LBNL), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
The activities of this international meeting included JGI user presentations, tour of the JGI state of the art sequencing facility, genome annotation workshops, and poster sessions. Sessions and posters in the fields of microbial genomics, microbial communities, eukaryotic genomics, and emerging genome technologies were presented.
