Chinese former foreign minister Li Zhaoxing, who’s also member of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), paid an inspection tour to XTBG on September 8.

In the company of XTBG assistant director Yin Shouhua, Minister Li Zhaoxing visited the elite living plant collections and the Tropical Rainforest Ethnic Culture Museum. He showed much interest in the plants and landscapes, asking questions about some rare and endangered plants. At the Tropical Rainforest Exhibition Hall within the Museum, Mr. Li was concerned about the area of tropical rainforest in China and for what percentage it accounts in the tropical rainforest around the world. He said that it is essential to protect tropical rainforest and the ecological environment.

The former foreign minister was kind enough to write the following inscription for XTBG at the Museum: “Protect our ecological environment, so as to safeguard the future of our motherland and the mankind".
