A symposium on the development of energy plants was held at XTBG on December 11, which brought together about 40 researchers from CAS botanical institutions and Guizhou University.
The symposium covered such cutting-edge issues as biomass energy research, molecular breeding, renewable energy, exploitation and utilization of physic nut tree (Jatropha curcas L.), etc.
Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, briefed research advancement in energy plants at XTBG, especially on the physic nut tree. With the implementation of “Screening & Assessment of Energy Plants & Core Technology for Large-Scale Plantation of the Physic Nut Tree”, XTBG is active in providing a platform for energy plant studies and building up talents teams. It is also striving for contributing to meet the strategic needs of the country.
Senior officials from CAS Bureau of Life Sciences & Biotechnology attended the meeting and made important remarks. |
