Entrusted by Department of Life Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), XTBG undertook “Acceptance Check Conference of Projects Granted by National Science Fund of Distinguished Young Scholars” in Jinghong, capital city of Xishuangbanna during December 25-29, 2007. The Conference brought together 45 distinguished young scholars, 25 experts of evaluation panels, and 28 officials and staff of NSFC. Academician Shen Yan, vice president of NSFC, was present.

   Prof. Cao Min, deputy director of XTBG, addressed the opening session held on December 26. Prof. Du Shengming, executive deputy director general of NSFC Department of Life Sciences, delivered an important speech. The conference was focused on having acceptance check on basic research projects in Biology and Biomedicine, which were officially inaugurated in 2003.

  As scheduled, the representatives were invited to visit XTBG on December 28. Dr. Cao Min gave introductions to XTBG and accompanied the guests a tour within the Garden.

   In addition, some NSFC officials in charge of projects in Botany, Forestry and Ecology were invited to hold talks with XTBG leaders and some scientific personnel.
