During March 17-20, Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, led a team to Jingdong County to identify appropriate site for a south subtropical botanical garden which is to be established by Jingdong in cooperation with XTBG.

     With the help and in the company of local officials, the team members made excursions to five candidate sites for the botanical garden. Careful field investigations showed that natural conditions like well-preserved subtropical vegetation and rich plant species are very suitable for building up a botanical garden. The ultimate site for the botanical garden will be decided soon on the natural and infrastructural conditions.

     When holding talks with local officials, Dr. Chen Jin said that XTBG is to actively promote the construction of Jingdong South Subtropical Botanical Garden. He also talked about the functions and ideas for planning the new botanical garden.

 In addition, Dr, Chen Jin expressed gratitude to the local government for their continued support to Ailaoshan Forest Ecosystem Station.
