Prof. Ma Keping makes field visit to 20-ha forest observation plot

During his visit at XTBG, Prof. Ma Keping, director of CAS Institute of Botany, made an inspection tour to the 20-ha Plot on Sep.3. Prof. Ma put forward valuable suggestions for the management of and studies in the largest tropical rainforest dynamics plot of China.

      Dr. Chen Jin and Dr. Hu Huabin exchanged ideas with the visiting plant ecologist.

 

 

    Prof. Dr. Ma Keping is a research professor of Plant Ecology. Being one of the Chinese scientists who initiated biodiversity research in China, Ma contributes a lot to Chinese biodiversity conservation. He is known in the field of biodiversity research and conservation internationally. He is a member of the Executive Committee of IMoSEB (International Mechanism of Scientific Expertise on Biodiversity), and co-chaired the Asian consultation meeting, member of the GTI Coordination Mechanism, among other activities and made important contributions to the development of a new mechanism. He is also an active collaborator with a number of international organizations or programmes, such as Diversitas, GIBF, Species 2000, TNC, WWF and IUCN.
