A CO2 Phytotron has been recently set up in Ailaoshan Research Station by XTBG. The controlled environmental facility is to be used for the studies of interrelationships between biological invasions and global changes, to study the evolution of exotic plants under environmental changes, e.g. the increased CO2 density, temperature, and nitrogen deposition, etc.

By using the Phytotron, scientists can predict the possible distribution of invaded plant species and have an early warning, to discover the vulnerable spots and limiting factors. Then scientists may study corresponding countermeasures and contribute to ecological restoration.

The Phytotron includes 4 plant growth greenhouse chambers and a lab. Environmental control systems enable users to maintain precise conditions for plant research and other biological applications.
