As the 50th birthday of XTBG comes near, a series of activities has been planned to commemorate the 50 years of its excellence in many aspects. The sports’ meeting is one of the celebration events.
The opening ceremony of the Sports Meeting 2008 grandly took place on the evening of November 19. All staff members and students attended the opening ceremony highlighted by parade and speech. XTBG deputy director Li Hongwei, who’s also organizing chairman of the sports meeting, declared it open.
The sports meeting saw the active participation of 8 teams into such competition activities as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, 4×100 relay race, running, entertainment games, etc.
The athletes demonstrated the Olympic spirit of “higher, faster and stronger”. The spectators were also high-spirited. Screaming and waving hands, a great many spectators gathered in a certain area, cheering enthusiastically for the athletes.
The sports meeting came to an end in complete success on November 22. While enjoying the happiness derived from competitions, the participants followed the principle of “competition second to friendship”.
