In an attempt to provide basic education for the children of foreign staff and students, a one-room school (XTBG International School) was founded in April 2009 under the initiative of the parents. One-room schools were common throughout remote rural parts of many Western countries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some are still functioning in remote places today. All of the students met in a single room and study several different subjects.(for more info, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-room_school)
Ms Alejandra Warren, a graduate from University of Peutro Rico, USA , is the teacher for the XTBG International School. Ms Warren has a degree in comparative literature. Classes are conducted in English for the 6 students from 4 different continents. In addition to basic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Arts and P.E., the students also learned other subjects such as Spanish, computer science (making presentation with Powerpoint) etc. The philosophy of the school is to learn via exploration and discovery.
