Included in the country's medium- and long-term railway network plan, the Yuxi-Mohan line is expected to be completed and put into operation before 2020. The network is featured with land transport links connecting China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The railway will bring various benefits in economy, trade, and tourism development in Yunnan. XTBG will also get an impetus for development.
