Prof. Zhang Xingdong, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, paid an inspection tour to XTBG recently. His aim was investigating tropical plant species resources.

He held talks with some scientific personnel of XTBG and made field visits to the cultivation bases of such oil plants as Jatropha curcas and Plukenetia volubilis (Inca Peanut). He encouraged XTBG to make more contributions to the preservation and development of national strategic resource plants.

Assoc. Prof. Yin Shouhua, assistant director of XTBG, accompanied the Academician’s tour within XTBG. He briefed the achievements in scientific research, species conservation, and public education to the guests.

Academician Zhang Xingdong is now professor and honorary director of National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials at Sichuan University in China.
