The annual meeting 2012 of CAS Botanical Gardens and Herbaria Education Network was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, during December 5-7. The meeting brought together over 50 representatives fromMinistry of Science and Technology (MOST), China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and botanical gardens and herbaria of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, delivered a speech at the plenary meeting. “Botanical gardens of the CAS have made a lot of progress in organizing education programs, education personnel training, popular science facilities, etc over the past year. All these owe thanks to the committee of the CAS Botanical Gardens and Herbaria Education Network,” said Chen Jin.

“CAS botanical gardens play a leading and demonstrative role in conducting science popularization activities among botanical gardens nationwide,” added Chen Jin.

Science popularization activities of the botanical gardens and herbaria over the past year were summed up. The key points for the work in the following year were also discussed.

The annual meeting 2013 of the network is possibly held in Guilin, Guangxi.
