20 ecologists gathered together in Kunming to have an elite forum seminar named “Ecological progress and beautiful Yunnan” on June 14. The ecologists were from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Yunnan University, Yunnan Agricultural University, Honghe College, and Qujing Normal College.

Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG and chairman of Ecological Society of Yunnan, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Inquiring into the concept of ecological progress”. The other two keynote presentations were made by Prof. Ou Xiaokun and Prof. Su Wenhua, entitled “Our perception of ecological progress and the role ecology in ecological progress” and “Man, culture, and environment” respectively.

Afterwards, the participating ecologists made some other presentations, putting forward their understandings on ecological progress. Prof. CAO Min proposed that the wisdom in ecological studies can be used to deal with the relationships of man and man, man and nature, man and the society, so as to realize biocentric equality.
