Plant Molecular Biology Group, with Prof. Yu Diqiu as principal investigator, won praise for their outstanding performance in scientific research at the year-end performance evaluation of 2013. The group was entitled as Excellent Research Group of XTBG.

Plant molecular biology lab led by YU was established in 2003. YU’s lab focuses on the molecular mechanism of WRKY transcription factor in biotic and abiotic stress and the functions of plant miRNAs.

To date, the group consists of one professor, three associate professors, one research associate, and one technician. Over the past year, some study results from YU’s lab were published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), Plant Cell, and Plant Journal respectively. Some other research results have been , accepted for publication, one of which was accepted by Plant Cell and the other two by Plant Physiology.

In addition, Yu’s research group was selected to participate in the research project on “innovation systems of designer breeding by molecular modules”, a strategic priority research program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
