Environmental protection officials visit XTBG

Mengla County is trying to be named as a national-level ecosystem-friendly county. Officials with the Ministry of Environmental Protection came to have an on-spot evaluation on September 10-11. The officials came to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) to look at its work on biodiversity conservation, eco-tourism, environmental protection, and public education. Mr. Hou Daijun, deputy director general of Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation of Ministry of Environmental Protection, headed up the evaluation group.

Prof. Hu Huabin, deputy director of XTBG, showed the guests around living collections and the Central Laboratory. He briefed development of XTBG. They also discussed biodiversity corridors, biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, campus management, and public education base, etc.

Some local officials accompanied the tour.
