Annual Work Meeting 2015 of CAS Botanical Gardens Committee held in Guilin

Annual work meeting 2015 of the botanical gardens work committee of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held in Guilin, Guangxi on November 1-4. An academic forum was concurrently held. Prof. Chen Jin, together with directors of vice directors of other 12 CAS botanical gardens, attended the meeting. 22 researchers from 13 botanical gardens presented their research progress at the academic forum.

The directors and vice directors discussed work report on progress in 2015 and advice for work in 2016. They also made work summary over the past year respectively. Prof. Chen Jin summarized the work meeting.

Recommended by their respective directors, 22 researchers made presentations at the academic forum, which covered such topics as phylogenetic analysis, molecular biology, investigation of plant resources, plant introduction and resource utilization, plant functional traits, plant physioecology, and biodiversity conservation, etc.

With the participating directors and vice directors as judges, the forum awarded prizes to 6 young scientists for their presentations.

Dr. Lin Luxiang and Dr. Chen Yajun of XTBG made presentations concerning long-term monitoring and research on biodiversity at 20-ha forest plot and water use of tropical woody vines respectively.
