A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Hong Kong and Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) in late February. As representatives of the two sides,Prof. T S Andy Hor of Hong Kong and Prof. Chen Jin of XTBG signed the MoU. According to the MoU, the two sides are to enhance science and technology cooperation, exchange visits of scholars and students, organize to conduct science programs, field investigations, academic meetings, and workshops, etc. Established in 1911,the University of Hong Kong is the territory's oldest institute of higher learning. It is now leading international institution of higher learning in Asia. It strives to attract and nurture outstanding scholars from around the world through excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange, contributing to the advancement of society and the development of leaders through a global presence, regional significance and engagement with the rest of China. Professor Hor assists the President/Vice-Chancellor in setting the direction and policy for research at the University, in developing the University’s research and postgraduate education profile and agenda, and in coordinating knowledge transfer.
