CAS Vice President Wang Enge paid an inspection visit to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and held a meeting with XTBG leadership and backbone researchers on March 25-27. Prof. Wang Enge visited XTBG-housed facilities such as Central Laboratory, key laboratories, and field stations. He also visited living collections, tropical rainforest ethnic culture museum, XTBG history museum, green stone forest, and “3H” apartment for young researchers. At the meeting, XTBG CPC secretary Li Hongwei reported progress over the past years and focused on general planning in the 13th “5-year” plan and its implementation. Wang Enge exchanged views with the participants about the development of scientific researchers, talent cultivation programs, international cooperation, and some other issues. He encouraged XTBG to meet opportunities and challenges, and create a sound talent cultivation system. Wang Enge pointed out that XTBG should accurately position itself and XTBG researchers should be clear about their development direction.
