XTBG named National Scientific Research and Science Popularization Base

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and National Zoological Museum of China have been recently named as the first batch of National Scientific Research and Science Popularization Base. The honor was jointly issued by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST).
   XTBG boasts rich scientific facilities and unique popular science resources. It has been stressing on science popularization, organizing various science popularization activities, and offering platform to the youth for science popularization and scientific quality cultivation.
   XTBG has organized thousands of middle school students to explore science and pupils to experience nature. It carries out environmental education courses or activities for local students and teachers in Xishuangbanna. Community education, nature club, popular science lectures, nature journaling, and biodiversity protection activities increase environmental awareness of young people.
  The combination of scientific research and popular science has become one of characteristics of XTBG. As a non-profit scientific institute, XTBG will keep on improving the science research and science popularization base, carrying out colorful scientific popularization services to the public, participating actively in the scientific popularization activities, such as National Science Popularization Day, International Biodiversity Day, National Science and Technology Week, so as to contribute to advancing public scientific literacy.
