Researchers from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) conducted three field expeditions to Thailand from last November to this May. They investigated vegetation types of four forest dynamics plots (Chiang Dao, Mae Ping, Huai Kha Kheang, and Khao Chong). They recently  made field investigations on the tropical forest vegetation types in Kra Isthmus and acquired images of the trees in Klong Naka nature reserve and Khao Lakby national park by using small fixed-wing UAV.
A 25-ha forest dynamic plot is planned to be founded within the Klong Naka nature reserve. XTBG and Kasetsart University, and administration of the nature reserve will cooperate in the establishment and management of the forest plot. Further work is needed to implement the plan.
The field expeditions were headed up by Prof. Lin Luxiang of XTBG, with assistance of Dr. Wichan Eladthong from Kasetsart University.
