The 2016 Annual Conference on Chinese Botanic Gardens was opened in Beijing on October 26, with attendance of over 400 representatives from home and abroad. The theme of the meeting is “Innovation, green, and share”.

   At the opening ceremony, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was awarded the honor of Best Chinese Botanic Garden 2016—“Fenghuai Award”. Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, received the signboard and certificate from Academician Hong Deyuan and Prof. He Shanan.

   The opening ceremony also witnessed the awarding of “Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Botanical Gardens” to Xu Zaifu, Hu Qiming, Xiao Peigen, Li Shengchen, Gu Yin, Zhang Lianquan, Qiu Baolin, Liao Fanglin, Guo Shengzhen, and He Zhenxing. Among the award winners, Prof. Xu Zaifu is former director of XTBG.

ABOUT

Prof. Chen Fenghuai is a Chinese botanist and known as “the Father of Chinese Botanic Gardens”. He contributed greatly to the construction of botanical gardens in China and was instrumental in establishing the South China, Wuhan, Lushan and Sun Yat-sen Botanical Gardens.
