The 2016 Annual Meeting of the CAS Key Laboratory of Tropical Forest Ecology and its academic meeting was held on December 28-29 in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG).  On behalf of the lab, Prof. Chen Jin reported on the research outputs achieved in 2016. Members of the academic committee fully endorsed the research over the past year and put forward some valuable suggestion for the laboratory.  

   As representatives of the key lab, Prof. Yang Xiaodong, prof. Xing Yaowu and Assoc. Prof. Su Tao made detailed introduction to achievements on ecosystem functions, dynamics process and species diversity maintenance, evolutionary ecology, global change and ecosystem responses.  

  Renowned researchers like Prof. Han Xingguo, Prof. Zhou Guoyi, Prof. Xiang Chengbin were invited to give lectures. 

   Members in the academic committee and invited specialists discussed the lab’s work report and seminars. They fully affirmed the achievement output, team building, and lab management. They proposed specific suggestions regarding research directions, cultivation of young and middle-aged academic leaders, construction of innovation team, exchange and cooperation, and independent innovation capability. 

   On December 29, young researchers and graduate students (in total 24 people) presented their research work, which covered all research fields of the key lab. Prof. Chen Jin conferred certificates to award winners ( Wang Gang, Xiao Haifeng, Li Shufeng, Wu Junen, Huang Jian, Cheng Yanan and others) for their presentations. 

  Chemical Ecology Group was selected as excellent research group of the key lab in 2016.
