A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on April 9. The two sides will have comprehensive cooperation from 2017 to 2022, with the agreement.

  According to the MoU, the two sides will cooperate in species reintroduction/ translocations, combining horticulture, science, practical conservation and public engagement. They will jointly apply for funds, carry out training /education programs, and share experience on botanic garden management and profile development.

  The two sides will also share information on strategic development of responses to emerging plant health threats, and jointly explore opportunities for distributed ex situ collections. Furthermore, they will have joint expeditions and support plant material exchange for horticulture, research and conservation.

  As representatives of the two sides, Prof. Simon Milne, Regius Keeper of RBGE, and Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, signed the MoU.

  The MoU was signed during a visit of Prof. Simon Milne and his companions to XTBG. During their stay at XTBG, the RBGE delegates delivered lectures and held discussion with XTBG researchers.
