Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden Marathon to kick off soon

                                              The different kilometer brands.
[InKunming--Yunnan] Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden Marathon is about to start on September 16th. It is not only a professional marathon competition, but also an environment educational activity. The working staff from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden claims that the goal of holding such a sporting event is to make people realize the importance of protecting biodiversity in tropical rainforest area.

Kilometer brands of this marathon are different from the normal ones. Each kilometer brand is printed with a picture of particular species in Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture or endangered species in the world, such as Dillenia pentagyna Roxb, Green Peacock, Tragulus, and so on. In this way can pass information to participating players. It is the first time to combine plants knowledge with marathon in China.

The full marathon and half marathon routes reach to the green stone forest scenic spot where local orchids are growing. The Garden will organize an activity named "Orchid Returns", which provides marathon players with chances to know rare orchids.
In addition, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden plans to launch a series of activities during the marathon, including a parent-child interaction activity and knowledge lectures, etc. At present, quiet a number of influential celebrities and business elites have registered for the marathon.
