Prof. Ding Zhongli, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited Myanmar from September 16-19 at the invitation of Myanmar's House of Representatives.

Ding said China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and the Paukphaw (fraternal) friendship between the two peoples is long standing. China's National People's Congress is willing to work with Myanmar's Union Parliament to actively implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and take Belt and Road cooperation as an opportunity to enhance friendly cooperation.

During his stay in Myanmar, CAS Vice President Ding Zhongli paid an inspection tour to the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI). He listened to report on cooperation between CAS and Forest Department of Myanmar Ministry of Forestry, and work progress between the two sides.

Chinese ambassador Hong Liang in Myanmar accompanied the tour. They also looked around the research facilities there and the four laboratories named animal diversity and conservation, aquatic biodiversity, traditional medicine and ethnobotanical research, and plant diversity and conservation.

Afterwards, Prof. Ding Zhongli and his companions posed group photos with SEABRI researchers.
