A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and Southwest Forestry University (SWFU) in Kunming on September 25, marking a strategic partnership has been forged between the two institutions.

As representatives of the two sides, Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, and Prof. Guo Huijun, president of SWFU, signed the MoU.

Prof. Chen Jin said that SWFU has contributed a lot to development of forestry, biological resources, and talent cultivation. “Many SWFU graduates have pursued their degree studies or even became staff members of XTBG. We’d like to have strategic and comprehensive cooperation with SWFU,” said Prof. Chen.

Prof. Guo Huijun spoke highly of the internationalization at XTBG. He also recognized the advantages of XTBG in management of botanic gardens, social services, ecological protection, and contribution to support green “belt and road” initiative. “The strategic cooperation will give impetus to the two sides to scientific research, talent training, and social contribution,” said Prof. Guo.

According to the MoU, the two sides will have comprehensive cooperation on talent training, scientific research, field stations, and platforms of science resources, etc.
