The Chinese Paintings’ Tropical Rainforest: the 3rd Exhibition was opened in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on September 25. This is the third time of the “When art meets science” event.
The 3rd exhibition showcases artworks aligned with tropical rainforest science, landscapes or natural resources in Xishuangbanna. It provides an opportunity for artists across China to showcase their recent artworks that demonstrate an art-science connection.
“Art and science are interlinked. Both artists and scientists discover, enchant and propagate beauty,” said Prof. Yang Yongping, CPC secretary of XTBG.
“The thriving beauty of tropical rainforest in the paintings may somewhat encourage people to survive the pandemic of COVID-19. We also hope both scientists and artists work in harmony, just like the tropical rainforest ecosystem,” added Yang Yongping.
This year, 85 works of artists from nationwide are on show. The paintings feature tropical landscape, plants such as palms, passions flowers, bamboos, orchids, bananas, torch gingers, and animals like peacocks, Asian elephants, and butterflies, etc, showing a vivid and lifelike tropical rainforest in Xishuangbanna.
A seminar was also held for the artists and scientists to share thoughts on science and art from different angles. All participating scientists and artists are amazed at the charm of combing science and art.
The exhibition will last from September 25, 2020 to February 28, 2021. It will feast visitors’ eyes and mind.
