The Botanical Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) has recently announced the 2020 Global Botanic Garden Fund Recipients. Among the 40 grant recipients, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) receives $4,500 for The Anthony Hitchcock Species Recovery Fund. XTBG is also the only institution in China winning BGCI grants this time.

In 2020, BGCI received 151 applications from more than 50 countries and 60 institutions. The BGCI’s Global Botanic Garden Fund only distribute 40 grants worth more than $82,000.

In 2020, BGCI launched the Anthony Hitchcock Species Recovery Fund in honor of the late Anthony Hitchcock, who committed his life to the conservation of endangered plants in southern Africa.

The Anthony Hitchcock Species Recovery Fund aims to support institutions carrying out threatened plant species reintroductions and recovery.
