Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment has recently announced the first batch of the national stations of comprehensive monitoring of ecological quality. The Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem Station affiliated to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) is one of the 55 stations.

Monitoring stations concerning main ecosystems including forest, desert, wetland, farmland, grassland, sea and city are included in the list. 44 national key areas for ecological monitoring are covered.

These comprehensive stations are important components of China National Environmental Monitoring Centre (CNEMC), whose major functions are  monitoring national environment; spearheading the development of environmental monitoring technology; delivering monitoring information, reports and technical support to national environmental management and decision-making; and rendering technical guidance on national environmental monitoring.

By taking this inclusion as an opportunity, Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem Station of XTBG will strengthen team building and improve monitoring quality, so as to contribute to support ecological protection and resilience.
