From November 3 to 4, a six-member delegation from the Faculty of Agriculture at Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand, visited the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG). The two institutions formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on biodiversity conservation and ecological monitoring.
The two institutions had a meeting to discuss ongoing and future collaboration. XTBG director Prof. Xing Yaowu and Prof. Daruni Naphrom, dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at CMU summarized progress made since the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023. They both recognized the strong potential for partnership in tropical agriculture and biodiversity research.
According to the MoA, the two institutions will advance the construction of ecological monitoring networks, promote the sharing of scientific research equipment, enable long-term data collaboration, and facilitate joint postgraduate training. They will also organize annual academic seminars, technical training sessions, and exchange visits, aiming to enhance the application and transformation of research outcomes.
During their stay, the CMU delegation also conducted field visits to observe XTBG’s achievements in species conservation, garden development, and environmental education.
