A delegation of researchers from the Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences (MBG, RAS) visited Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on January 26-27. The visit was to strengthen scientific collaboration between the two institutions.

Prof. Xing Yaowu, director of XTBG, warmly welcomed the visitors. He highlighted the significant influence of MBG, RAS in botanical research and plant conservation. The two institutions have ever signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2025, establishing a foundation for cooperation. Prof. Xing hoped the two sides will further deepen cooperation in plant taxonomy, biodiversity conservation, and plant resource studies.

Prof. Andrei Pashtetskii, director of MBG expressed his desire to deepen mutual understanding and promote cooperation in relevant research fields under the framework of the existing MoU.

The two sides discussed cooperation in plant taxonomy and conservation, biodiversity research, plant resource studies, and academic exchanges. They also exchanged views on future collaborative directions and priority tasks under the current MoU framework.
