Prof. FAN Zexin, deputy director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), headed up a delegation to Kasetsart University in Thailand from April 20 -24. The visit was aimed to deepen cooperation in research projects, facility sharing, academic exchange, and personnel training between the two sides.

At the Faculty of Forestry of Kasetsart University, the two sides reviewed ongoing collaboration under an existing memorandum of understanding. They signed a supplementary agreement concerning cooperation in long-term forest dynamic plot monitoring, data sharing of tree growth observation networks, joint training of researchers, and the management of the Thailand Office of the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

XTBG researchers also talked with the Faculty of Fisheries about establishing a China-Thailand joint ecological station, including site selection, implementation plans, nursery construction, and budget arrangements, etc.

XTBG researchers also conducted field investigations at the Andaman Research Station in southern Thailand and the 20-hectare Klong Naka tropical lowland rainforest dynamic plot. They carried out maintenance of experimental facilities there, so as to ensure the continuity and reliability of long-term observation data.

The two sides sign a supplementary agreement.
