Her Excellency Patricia Flor, German Ambassador to China, and His Excellency Bertrand Lortholary, French Ambassador to China, led delegations to the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on May 13. Prof. XING Yaowu, director of XTBG, gave a warm welcome to the guests.
Xing Yaowu introduced XTBG’s progress in biodiversity conservation, tropical forest ecology studies, and international scientific collaboration, while showing the visitors around the research facilities and living collections. They had communication in ecological civilization and biodiversity protection.
Xing Yaowu said that XTBG is committed to deepening partnerships with German, French, and European research institutions in areas such as biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, tropical forest research, and young scientist training.
Both ambassadors expressed their desire to strengthen collaboration with XTBG in scientific research, personnel exchanges, and environmental education, jointly advancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
The French delegation introduced several cooperation initiatives and exchange programs, including a researcher mobility grant, the France-China Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Network, a young scientist program, and the “Women in Science” thematic exhibition.
Ms. Wu Chunhua, Vice Governor of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, accompanied the delegation during relevant activities.
