On March 11, a preparation meeting for the joint exhibition “Towards the Olympics” by botanical gardens worldwide was held in CAS Institute of Zoology, Beijing. Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, presided over the meeting. Acknowledging the significance of the exhibition, the participants all said that the exhibition should be scientific and international. They also had field investigation on the possible venues. Primary contents were reached for the venue, theme, and form of the cooperation. Work division and cooperation were also arranged.

As active promoters for environmental protection, botanical gardens are to spread the knowledge of environmental protection & biodiversity conservation as much as possible by the platform of Green Olympics. The joint exhibition is planned to be held before or after the event of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The preparation meeting was attended by relevant leaders and personnel of XTBG, BGCI (Botanical Gardens Conservation International), Beijing Botanical Garden, and some other member institutions of FIPSE (Federation for Internet-based Public Science Education).
