Atlas of Neogene Stratigraphy and Index Fossils in China has been recently published by Zhejiang University Press. Compiled by leading Chinese experts in Neogene stratigraphy and paleontology, this volume represents a crucial part of the broader series "Atlas of Mesozoic–Cenozoic Stratigraphy and Index Fossils in China." It systematically synthesizes research on the division, correlation, and index fossils of continental Neogene strata in China, marking a major achievement in the field for this geological period.

Researchers from the Paleoecology Research Group of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) contributed a lot to the work. With Prof. Zhou Zhekun as leader, XTBG researchers completed the compilation of the plant macrofossils section. Their work meticulously documents important Neogene plant groups and index fossils in China, outlines the characteristics of Cenozoic flora in the region, and provides critical fossil evidence for studying plant diversity evolution, its interplay with Earth's environmental changes, and paleoclimate dynamics during this era.

This atlas not only furnishes systematic foundational data for the sustainable development of paleontology and stratigraphy in China but also offers vital references for global research on continental Neogene stratigraphic correlation, biological evolution, and environmental change.
